Kontratar encrypts proposal documents using a tenant-specific passphrase. The passphrase is required to generate, view, and download proposals. This protects sensitive solicitation response data from unauthorized access.
How it works
Each tenant (organization) has a unique passphrase. This passphrase is used to encrypt and decrypt a public-private key pair that protects proposal documents.
Kontratar does not store your passphrase. The platform stores only the password hash, which is used to decrypt the keys that encrypt the proposals. Only the public key (used for encryption) is visible in the platform.
Generating your passphrase
- Click your profile icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click Generate Public Private Key Pair.
- Record your passphrase and store it in a safe location.
If you forget your passphrase, your generated proposals cannot be recovered. Kontratar does not store the passphrase and cannot reset it. Store your passphrase in a password manager or other secure location.
When the passphrase is required
You are prompted to enter your passphrase in the following situations:
| Action | Passphrase required |
|---|
| Generating a new proposal | Yes |
| Viewing proposal sections | Yes |
| Downloading a proposal | Yes |
| Editing a proposal | Yes |
